Plaza Ronda, Málaga, Spain
The scenic road to Ronda hints at something about the wines that are about to tasted on our Ronda wine tour. These are mostly red wines with attitude, as all the vineyards are is situated at an elevation higher than 750m above sea level, that proves elevation matters. Here you can taste acclaimed monovarietals and red blends from Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, Merlot, Tempranillo, and even Petit Verdot, as well as fruity rosé and white wines.
Despite Ronda’s relative infancy as an enotourism destination, it has historical viniculture roots that date back thousands of years to the aptly-named ruined ancient Roman city of Acinipo, meaning the ‘city of wine’ – one of the few cities in the Roman Empire that made wine of such good quality that it was exported back to Rome!
Ronda vineyards are mostly all family cellars with humble roots, and the wineries usually pair the passion of husband and wife teams and fabulous terroir to produce exceptional wines. With such wonderful wines, intimate family cellars and splendid scenery no wonder our Ronda Wine Tour is our most popular option!
