Before you think we have simply gone butterfly mad, I would like to take this opportunity to explain the meaning of our name and history behind it. Mariposa, the Spanish word for butterfly has a very special meaning to our family. A Small Tortoiseshell butterfly came to stay at my fathers home, very much out of season. We took this as a sign not to dwell on the past and what we had lost but to encompass the life of the butterfly, which counts not months but moments. We truly hope your moments here at Mariposa are as enriching as the visit from the butterfly that enriched ours.
