Iglesia de San Mateo, Cáceres, Spain
Temple built on the ruins of an ancient Almohad mosque. It has elements of Gothic, Renaissance, Baroque and Plateresque, because of its many reforms. The main doorway is Plateresque by Guillén Ferrant. It consists of a basket – handle arch between two columns of composite order, in whose spandrels appear two medallions with effigies of San Pedro on the left, and Paul, right. In the center of the frieze is San Mateo. The chapel of the Sande was conducted by Rodrigo Gil de Hontañón which highlights its vault of starry crucería. Attached to the temple a bell tower dating from the eighteenth century (1780), has no decoration and was carried rises by Pedro Vecino. Inside, consists of a single nave has ribbed vaults granite rococo altarpiece, the Extremadura style, is attributed to Vicente Barbadillo in the second half of the eighteenth century. Visit Spain.
