TheCathedral of Cadiz “Santa Cruz on the sea” or Santa Cruz on the Waters “is also known as the New Cadiz Cathedral, as opposed to the old, built in the sixteenth century on the old gothic cathedral built by Alfonso X El Sabio. The Gothic cathedral lasted some reforms in the fifteenth and sixteenth centuries until it was burned down by the Anglo – Dutch fleet commanded by Admiral Howard and the Earl of Essex, who attacked, invaded and sacked Cadiz in 1596 until the abandoned and burned, in mid-July. Visit Spain.
