Nothing crossing the Arch of the Star the visitor is directed to the Plaza de Santa Maria, it is the nerve center of the city of Caceres. It opens the square opposite the church of Santa Maria, which was the first high-intramural Christian temple following the Reconquista. In his corner the statue of D. Pedro de Alcantara presiding whole square rises. It was the meeting place of the council and where many celebrations, tournaments and even theater were held.
